Arundhathi in Hindi?

It’s touted as the biggest hit in the history of Telugu cinema. And now Arundhati is all set to be remade in Hindi. Many producers including Ghajini’s Madhu Mantena were vying for the Hindi remake rights. But the producer of the original film M. Shyam Prasad Reddy has decided to remake the film in Hindi. Sonu Sood, who played the main antagonist in the Telugu film and is all set to encore the same part in Hindi version.“I’m excited because we all worked very hard on making the Telugu original something Special. Lots of producers wanted to remake it in Hindi. But now the original producer has decided to go for it. The Hindi Arundhati will be far more expensive and polished. We start shooting in June,” revealed Sonu. Sood has already started preparing for the part. “The Hindi version will have to be severely revised.” The remake expert Priyadarshan was approached to direct Arundhati in Hindi. Apparently Priyadarshan could not allot time at such short notice. “And the original director Kodi Ramkrishna can’t understand Hindi. So we’re probably going with a guy named Rahul who did all the Special effects in Tamil.” And now the most crucial question is, who plays the central role of Arundhati in this woman-dominated film? Though no one is willing to commit to any name, sources reveal that the makers of Arundhati were very keen to sign Anushka Sharma who starred with Shahrukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Says the source, “They needed someone strong, robust, young and determined and very North Indian as the lead in Hindi. They really wanted Anushka Sharma. She was perfect. But the producer was under the impression that she’s under contract with Yash Raj Films and unable to do any outside film. Now they might settle for the actress who played the lead in the Telugu Arundhati in Hindi version too. Coincidentally her name is also Anushka.” Surprisingly, Arjan (Fashion) Bajwa, who played the romantic lead in Arundhati, is not part of the Hindi remake. When questioned Arjan says, “They haven’t asked me. Even if they had I wouldn’t do it. Have you seen what has been done to my role in the Telugu film?”

Shahrukh - Aishwarya

Some things are just not meant to be. Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Bachchan sizzled on screen as a twin brother-sister jodi in Josh. Then their pairing was accepted in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas too. They really had good chemistry. But that was that. Recently Mani Ratnam Wanted to cast Shahrukh in the lead role opposite Aishwarya in his latest bilingual film Raavan which he’s working on currently. After things didn’t work out for him in Raju Hirani’s 3 Idiots and Shankar’s Robot, he seemed to have some free time. Mani had then spoken to him about Raavan and the superstar expressed interest in the project. He Wanted a good film in his kitty and didn’t care so much about the fact that Aishwarya was the leading lady. But before Mani came to Mumbai and gave him a detailed script narration, Aditya Chopra approached Shahrukh for his comeback film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. And the actor gave his dates to his dear friend. Mani didn’t want to delay the film and he took Abhishek Bachchan as the film’s male lead instead of Shahrukh. So Shahrukh and Aishwarya lost a chance to work together again. Not that they mind, but maybe their pairing would have worked wonders for their careers. And maybe it’s a chance lost!

Slumdog Millionaire may be the toast of the season with its bouquet of Oscar nominations, this has in turn helped Irrfan Khan to be listed most bankable star from India in Hollywood and has been ranked with the Khans of Bollywood in a new Forbes list. Irrfan is among half a dozen Bollywood actors on the list of “Hollywood’s Most Valuable Actors”, compiled by the American publication known for its rankings of the world’s richest persons. Other Indians on the list include Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.

Irrfan ranked at 825 is behind Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. The global list, topped by Hollywood actor Will Smith, is based on the bankability of actors around the world, voted by members of the global entertainment industry, Forbes said. The rankings are based on scores given to more than 1,400 working actors globally by the industry people on a scale of zero-to-ten, in terms of their bankability to ensure the financial success of film projects.

Currently Irrfan has around 5 -6 releases this year. So it’s quiet sure that with the talent that Irrfan posses the movie would surely be a hit. His forthcoming projects include Kal Kisne Dekha, Paan Singh Tomar, Right Ya Wrong, New York, Acid Factory and lastly Hisss. Seems like it’s going to be the year of Irrfan Khan.

SRK and Aamir on Same Stage

Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan came together on the same platform to raise the issue of the tiff between the film producers and multiplexes over revenue sharing. And both advocated a partnership of equality.

"It should be a partnership of equality. Fifty percent sharing is fair. Distributors and exhibitors have to find a way to make it a viable business within their fifty percent. Within my fifty percent I have to make it profitable," said Aamir at a press conference here.

"This is one industry and we all can survive only when each sector will earn a healthy share. We are here to find a solution to this," added Aamir.

Apart from Aamir, industry veterans like Ronnie Screwvala, Mukesh Bhatt and Karan Johar were present, among others.

Shah Rukh Khan, however, stressed that the press meet should not be seen as a "power show".

"This is not a power show. We haven't gathered here to threaten multiplexes. It's a show of coming together," said Shah Rukh who also felt that there should be equal sharing of revenue.

"We are here for fair rights for Friday nights," he asserted.

The tiff between the producers and multiplexes started early February. And after several failed discussions, the producers decided to go on strike. From April 4 they have stopped giving release rights of new big-budget movies.

South indian Actress in Love

Actress Kajal seems to be in love, and it is not one, but with two things that she is in love. When asked what those 2 things are, she said, she is in love with herself and her work. The actress says she is not romantically linked to anyone, and she is only in love with her figure, which she is shaping up now, going to the gym every day, the second love of course is her career as an actress which she is taking seriously. Kajal’s career is also rocking, she is Ramcharan’s heroine in Megadheera and she has recently been roped in to do a lead role opposite Ram in one of his films. Hrithik-Susanne

A reliable source from the sets of Kites says Hrithik and Susanne Roshan are very much together and the rumours of a split cannot and should not be believed. We spoke to our source from Kites sets, “There is no split between them. Both Hrithik and Susanne are very happy together. Susanne use to come on the sets and Barbara and Susanne got along very well too. They both talked all the time. Hrithik and Barbara are very Good friends but that doesn’t mean that they are close with each other and are having an affair. Hrithik loves his family very much and he is not that kind of person who will let his family down.” Our source further adds, “Hrithik and Susanne are very hospitable people and they made sure Barbara felt comfortable during her first trip to India. Her English has a heavy Spanish accent and she obviously doesn’t know Hindi, so Hrithik also helped her communicate with other people. He was her translator on the sets.” Another source adds, “Hrithik is absolutely devoted to his wife and family. He and Susanne had gone for a holiday to London and returned a couple of weeks ago after Kites shooting was wrapped up and so how can they split up suddenly? This is not true and from London he went to SA because he had to shoot for an ad. Hence he didn’t rush back to India, he returned when the shoot for the ad was completed.”

Riteish flies down South to see ?

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are trying hard to conceal their on-off relationship for years now. The couple it is learnt to have fallen in love during the time they came together for their debut film Tujhe Meri Kasam. Just few days back they got clicked by photographers while attending Tusshar Kapoor’s bash separately but leaving together in Riteish’s car hand in hand and also recently during the Lakme Fashion Week party. But the pictures got splashed in newspapers and websites which it left Ritesh embarrassed. It seems his traditional parents are opposed to his affair with Genelia and Riteish on his part is trying hard not to hurt them yet not letting go off his relationship with Genelia. For a long time Riteish has being avoiding meeting her in Mumbai after Tusshar Kapoor's party incident. Genelia too had then left for Hyderabad for shooting Hook Ya Crook. Perhaps missing her for long, he went of to Hyderabad with the excuse of meeting his Do Knot Disturb director David Dhawan who is also directing Hook Ya Crook. Our source reveals, “On the film sets when Genelia came around, David and Riteish were talking, and Riteish said just a formal ‘Hello’ and completely ignored her as if she didn’t even exist. But on the same evening the couple was seen having dinner together at a Hyderabad star restaurant.”

Aamir, Shahrukh still not speaking

The news that most of Bollywood and fans of Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan were happy to hear relating to the two khans patching up isn’t true and the two superstars are still not speaking to each other. So what made them spend time together at friend Karan Johar’s home recently?

We spoke to our source who was present at the meeting and he said that it was all to discuss the current strike in Bollywood and nothing else,

“Both Shahrukh and Aamir are producers in their own right. Karan Johar decided to call a meeting of all young producers like Aamir, Shahrukh, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. Both Saif and Akshay were not in town, so Aamir and Shahrukh were called.”

Further our source adds, ”The reason why the meeting was called is because Karan planned to address the media. He then thought of including Shahrukh and Aamir as well and so the three met at Karan’s home. The topic was the current strike in Bollywood and what they could do to help and resolve the argument between the Producers’ Association and the multiplexes. Both Shahrukh and Aamir have a good relationship with most multiplexes and hence Karan felt that if the two tried to intervene then it would just work for the greater good of the industry.”

He continues, “Both Aamir and Shahrukh are professional. They will never let their personal differences come in the way of their work. Also with the IPL round the corner, Shahrukh will get busy with that too and so he wanted to address the media about his stand on the situation before he leaves for South Africa. Till date he hasn’t openly addressed the public about his stand on the situation and they have just united for this only,” says the source.

The argument between the multiplexes, producers and directors is still on and there seems no end in sight. Last evening actor-director-producer Aamir Khan along with his Bollywood colleagues including Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Yash Chopra, Ronnie Screwwala addressed the media about the ongoing strike. Speaking at the press conference he talked in detail about the multiplex vs. producers and distributors issue. He also explained why a fifty percent sharing makes sense and why the industry should be united at this troubled time.

Hrithik Splits With Wife?

News about Hrithik Roshan’s separation with wife Susanne spread like wildfire and report after report confirmed this. Some started speculating the reason behind this and started predicting that an extra marital affair could be the reason. They predicted that Hrithik is in relation with Barbara, the Mexican actress who acted with Hrithik in the film Kites.

Susanne moving into father Akbar Khan’s residence along with her two children apparently triggered off this speculation. Gossip mongers had suggested that Susanne had moved into her father’s home as she had come to know of Hrithik’s relationship with Barbara. (Apparently the actor has a passionate kiss with Barbara in the movie Kites and this seems to have added fuel to the speculation).

But when Hrithik and Susanne came to know of this rumor they immediately downplayed it. They have now clarified to the one and all that they are a pair as yet. With this clarification being issued, all the speculations and rumors have been put to rest, as they say all’s well that ends well.

Young actor Varun Sanesh threw a surprise on all when he sang the entire song of one of his forthcoming film for a live audience during an interview. The actor just amazed everyone with his ability to sing and dance. Now with hits like Happy Days and Kotha Bangaru Lokam under his belt he has already proved what a good actor he is, his singing abilities have only added to the feathers in his cap.

Varun Sanesh has two films on the floors now. One is called Evaraina Epudaina where he is pairing with Malayalam actress Vimala Raman. Then he has a remake of Tamil film Polladhavan which he is doing with Neha Sharma. Varun is very confident that both the films would do great at the box office and he would be able to carve a niche for himself.

In the meanwhile he is also developing a six pack for these movies and he would also try to break free from the chocolate boy image. With the way Varun is positioning himself at the box office he is sure to go only one way, and that is up!!

Simran Pregnant again

Looking at the way Simran is putting on weight she sure seems to be in the family way. She was recently spotted at a social do in Chennai and she had put on considerable weight on her body. Though there in no official confirmation about this there are hush-hush voices already being heard.

The actress who made her second entry into films after motherhood tried lead roles initially, but when it did not work out she started doing TV roles and character roles in films. Fortunately for Simran she has tasted moderate success in these roles and much in demand.

Many feel that motherhood at this stage may not prove detrimental for her career since she is doing only character roles. The prediction is that Simran may take a second sabbatical and make a reentry into films later!!

Priyamani is a quick learner and even if she is not a great dancer she compensates it with her learning abilities. Now Priyamani seems to have developed a new taste for belly dancing. Ever since the news of Bipasha Basu learning this dance form percolated, many heroines including Priyamani also want to indulge in it.

Priyamani has exhibited her gyrating skills in some of her earlier films and now she wants to refine her belly moves.

The actresses were seen openly cat fighting in Mumbai over who should cut the ribbon for a fashion store, incidentally both of them were invited as chief guests. The cat fights between Priyanka and Kagna Ranaut are also well known. At the recent Femina Miss India Contest, Kagna was forced to dance on Madhuri Dixit hits as Priyanka wanted to dance on the hits from the film Fashion.

Kareena Kapoor is India’s answer to Sarah Jessica Parker,’ says stylist Akki Narula about Kareena’s hot new look in Kambhakht Ishq. Kareena plays a Los Angeles based supermodel in the film and Narula confesses that getting the right look wasn’t easy.

‘I spent 15 days in Milan. Each and every piece of dress and accessory was carefully handpicked to suit her role in the film,’ he says.Narula elaborates on Kareena’s bikini clad look (see pic) in the film, ‘Kareena loved this swimsuit. Singer Sunita lip to lip kiss

Singer Sunita who is still a beautiful bomb inspite of being a mother of two was caught romancing with a guy who was not indeed her husband. Recently, this lady was seen in a restaurant having a meal and she was accompanied by a young guy who was mellowing some words which made Sunita happy. The sources report that she was seen in a restaurant in Punjaguuta, Hyderabad which is almost deserted in the evenings as no person is interested in peeping into the restaurant which is on the seventh floor.

Actress Sunita walked into the restaurant hand in hand with the guy and was seen delighted and gleaming. Then the two ordered for some light meal and were seen talking dirty. The guy who accompanied Sunita suddenly researched his surroundings and indulged in a lip to lip kiss with the singer. This was witnessed by few families who were visiting the restaurant on a holiday mood of Holi.

It is reported that Sunita was warned by the restaurant manager for misbehaving in public and so the couple immediately left the place without much fuss.

SRK takes on cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar

Shah Rukh Khan recently at the Nokia - Kolkata Knight Riders tie up press conference held in Mumbai took on Sunil Gavaskar straight on. Apparently the cricket legend Gavaskar had criticized KKR coach John Buchanan over their team strategies including the possibility of multiple captains for the team.

When asked about his reaction over Gavaskar’s comments in his column in one of the leading publication about KKR, King Khan in his typical sarcastic style replied, “I have tremendous respect for Mr. Sunil Gavaskar. He was a great player of his times.

But T20 is a new type of game. Since he hasn’t ever played this game he has no right to comment on it. If he is still so interested then he should buy an IPL team for himself and implement his game tactics. We know what is good for us and good for cricket.”

This comment by SRK reminds us of his comments on Bollywood’s living legend Amitabh Bachchan that he had made when he had taken up as host for the popular show Kaun Banega Crorepati’s 3rd season which Big B had hosted earlier.

Well now it would be really interesting to see how the original Little Master Sunil Gavaskar hits back the bouncer thrown by SRK.
